I have a programmer who created an Access database using
Access 2003. She wants a handful of users to have access
to this database using "data access pages".
So I installed the "Microsoft office web components" as I
was prompted to when first trying the link to access
pages. I placed the whole server hosting the Access
database in the trusted sites section of Internet Explorer
(all users have version 5.5 or higher.)
This worked for all my systems except my windows 2000
terminal server. I got the Microsoft office web
components installed on the terminal server and placed the
server path into the trusted sites section of IE.
Everything was the same on this server as on the clients;
and all I get is the error message:
Data provider or other service returned an E_fail status.
After struggling with this for a while, I installed all
the latest critical updates to the server and a patch on
Microsoft's site that had something to so with JET. I re-
installed the "office web components" and installed MDAC
2.8
None of this seemed to do anything. I continue to get the
same error. I have done a lot of research on this but
still can not seem to figure out what the problem is. Any
help would be appreciated.
