Data Analysis Error message when creating query

A

AmWall

The following error message is received on a single user's PC when attempting
to query data from the OLAP Cube:
The query could not be processed:
An error was encountered in the transport layer.
An error was encountered in the transport layer.
The physical TCP/IP connection failed: An existing connection was forcibly
closed by the remote host.
The peer prematurely closed the connection.

We have Dec CU SP1 Project Server 2007.
Has any one come across this type of message. Also, the user has the IE
browser settings set to enable across domains as suggested in other posts.

You're not providing very much information to work with. Did this user once
have access to the OLAP cube or is this a new user? Do they have membership
in the View OLAP Data role? Is the user on a system that uses Vista? If not,
have you upgraded XML support? Did you install the Analysis Service 9.0 OLE
DB provider on the user's system?

Yes he has had access, and was able to create the view until he tried to
drill down further in his query by Month. It was a rather complicated query I
thik it simply timed out. Our databases are in need of defragmenting.
I am pretty sure he does not have a Vista computer. Do not believe we have
updated XML support. Yes have installed the Analysis Service 9.0 OLE
DB provider on the user's system. He was able to compete a query just prior
to receiving th eerror. Also, when one of the system Admins traced the same
steps that the user did he received a differnet error message but it occured
at exactly the same place in the steps he took. I do have the other error
message documented as well. Even when I took the same steps I received an
error as well. SQL errors in nature.

This could very well be a timeout issue which is particularly likely to
happen when you try to dimension too much data using the time dimension.
Which version of SQL are you using? If 2005, have you installed SP2? Changes
that were included in the CU10 and rolled into SP2 solve a lot of problems
with the OLAP cube.
