Data Analysis Export error

A

Adam

I have just finished creating various views within the TimeSheet Cube and
needed to group our projects into three categories.
These views work fantastic within the Project Server but when I export them
to excel there is an internal error that pops up.
As I need to create a static digital report I do need to export these views
and would appreciate any help
Thank You

Hi Adam,

the internal error could be anything. It would help to read the error
message.

Having said this, why dont you try to work around the issue by accessing the
OLAP cubes directly from Excel.

All you need to do is to create the OLAP connection to PS from Excel and
then you can create your own Excel report, save it and you will always have
this report. In the future all you need to do is open the Excel sheet and you
will have the latest data.

Hope this helps

hi Adam,

just so that I understand correctly what your issue is. From your previous
post you can actually view and work with the OLAP cubes. You have an issue
when exporting the Data analysis View into an Excel report.

Generally this seems to be a desktop issue and not a server issue, thats why
I am surprised that you have a server event log error. do the cubes actually
build?
thanks

All you have said is true.
I am able to build and work within the PWA but on export I get the "Internal
error: An unexpected exception occured" error on the desktop side and the
message below from the server.
I have found a work around with control A in the pivotable and a paste into
excel but even though this will suffice for now it limits the functionality
of excel slighlty.

Once again thank you for your assistance on this

Hi Adam,

I would recommend to re-deploy the Active X components. Let me know if this
fixes the issue
thanks
