Data Analysis not showing correct Actual Work

I am experiencing times when a project manager imports reource tasks updates
(Project 2007), republishes the project plan and then after the cube is
rebuilt runs a data analysis report to see actual work against that project,
the actual work hours are not captured correctly in the data analysis cube.
Example: resource enters 2.5 hours against a task, PM accepts those hours.
The hours are shown in the project plan. Manager publishes. next day we
view the data analysis report and those 2.5 hours are not showing against
that task. BUT, if I go back to the project, that task item does have the
2.5 hours in the actual work field.

This is not just hapening on one project, but across random projects and I
need to know why this is happening and how to fix it. Please help!

Your not alone on this one. We have seen similar performance and we are not
even using PWA to report progress. We are more concerned with cost. DA is
reporting cost that don't agree with Project even before we status any tasks!
As the assign admin in our org, I can only say this software is JUNK!

Hi PSU35

we shouldnt confuse user errors with blaming the software all the time
PSU35. Calling Project Server a peace of junk is an easy way out but
certainly does not reflect the opionion of users where Project Server has
been implemented correctly. No offense mate, but before you judge a software
that has been proven itself many many times accross the world, you may want
to consider incorporating professional expertise in your implmentation.

By all means there are bugs in 2007 and Microsoft has not necessarily done
the best job addressing these issues, but all issues are either addressed or
there are workarrounds. For me, I have been using DA for a long time and have
not experienced these issues. Fair enough I do nothing else but implement
Project Server on customers sites and therefore know how to use the Software.

Dots, for your issue can you please check the event log of the application
server and the Project Server Queue to see if you have any errors and let me
know. I am sure we can resolve your issue eventually
Thanks

In spite of Mr. Soester's claim of user error I will tell you we have
independent verification that this is a "bug" in the software.......one of
many we have had to endure that seem to center around the new "cost" resource.

Hi Mr. Soester
I can see your a fan of Project Server.
What Dots is describing and what we, with our professional consultant a
Microsoft Gold partner, has independently verified, is a bug! You may want
to be a little slower to assume it's a user error.

I have done implementations before and realize there are always issues to
resolve. What is most bothersome here is Microsoft's willingness to let
their customers find the bugs instead of selling us a product that functions
as advertised and then when they are told of bugs taking their own sweet time
to fix it! I stand by my rather strong assertion that the software is junk
until Microsoft sells something that works as advertised. My God, if this
was any other product that didn't perform I could at least get my money back.
With them it's always spend more to get what you wanted in the first place.
