Data Analysis views: can't create a view for data analysis

PedroJose

I am trying to create a view for data analysis but have not been successful.
The message that I am getting on the "Manage Views" page is: 'You must have
the valid Analysis Services database name and cube name'. Now I have built a
cube, which completes successfully and I am using the same info for the new
view. The analysis services server name is (for example) Philadelphia, and
the analysis services database to be created is "my cube". Now in the manage
views page, the "Default Server" is greyed out with the name "Philadelphia",
the analysis services database to be created is blank and the cube field
shows no choices. When I click to refresh rge db list, it tells me that it
failed to connect to the analysis service server... The name
"Philadelphia" is the name of the server where all systems are installed
(small farm install, single server install).
Can anybody give me some clues?????

Thanks.

Hi !
Are you accessing Analysis data views from "Philadelphia" or other computer
in your network ?
Did you enable "allow data accross different domain" settings of Trusted
Site zone of your IE ?

Hi,

I am accessing the data analysis view creation page from PWA from my laptop,
which connects to philadelphia (so no, I am not accessing data analysis from
the actuals server). I just enabled data accross different domains in th
etrusted sites zones, do I need to restart? any other setting that are
required?

Has someone figured it out? I am experiencing the same issue. My account is
part of Project Server' administrators, it have been granted privileges on
both SQL server and Analysis Services server.

Thanks

Our company has experienced the same issue - there are so many different things it can be (gathered from numerous resources)- please check the following:
* install the 9.0 OLE DB provider and MSXML 6.0 on the client machine
* ensure to enable "Access data across domains" in internet explorer. You do this on the security tab in trusted sites. Make sure the projectserver site is a member of trusted sites as well.
* Ensure the user is logging on via the domain and not locally.
* Ensure permissions on the Sharepoint Project server include the user experiencing the error

Hope this helps

Oops, meant to add that user needs to be given permissions to the Analysis Services end of things!!
