Data Assistant does not recognize PowerPoint 2007 as being install

When PowerPoint is started a dialog is displayed. The title is “Data
Assistantâ€. The text is “Either Microsoft Office PowerPoint or Microsoft
Office Excel is not installed.†Excel does not display this dialog when
started.
Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics does not identify any problems.
Uninstalling PowerPoint and then re-installing does not have any effect on
this message.
Any one know what needs to be done to resolve this issue?

I only had two add-ins, neither of which seemed to have anything to do with
the Data Assistant. I removed them anyway. This did not help. I am still
getting the same Data Assistant dialog.

Do you have an option to remove Data Assistant in Control Panel | Add Remove
Programs?
