data base increasing in size

I have a split database, one for data and the other for
forms, queries, etc. What concerns me is that everytime I
post entries in the database , both the front end and the
back end increase in size.

Shouldn't just the data containing database increase while
the program database remains the same.

I am wondering if there is some background code or
connection that I do not know about.

I would appreciate some ideas as to what is happening.
