Data Connections (secondary data sources)

Hi,

I am trying to connect to a sharepoint list that has three choice fields
that dont seem to appear when i try connect to the list uing the data
connection wizard. Is this because they are choice fields?? I would prefer
to be able to use secondary data connections instead of using webservices if
at all possible.
