As part of a data entry screen, I have set up a cell to receive a preprinted
request number (always a positive whole number). Any other value with a
different format that a user attempts to enter should be rejected as
erroneous. Occasionally the user will enter a date from the document into
the cell and it is converted to its numeric representation (for example:
6/05/07 = 39238) and is accepted as valid. I have formatted the cell as
Number with zero decimals and have attempted to use data validation, all
without success.
I know there is a probably a simple solution to facilitate this restriction.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
