Data file did not close properly?

M

Marko

Whenever I come out of standby and then start Outlook 2007, I get a message
that "A datafile did not close properly last time it was used and is being
checked for problems". It almost a minute for Oulook to start.
Has anyone else seen this?

All the time. Outlook 2007 is too new to function reliably. It has major
performance issues and is too slow to disconnect from its information store
before your PC goes into standby or shuts down. I would never leave Outlook
running. Make sure you exit it completely for at least a minute before you
shut down or go into standby.

Thanks, I'll do that. 'Hope they get it fixed soon.

Unfortunately just shutting it down even several minutes early didn't fix
the problem. I now get that problem every time I start Outlook 07, even if I
didn't go into standby.
The worst part is that it slows down my machine for several minutes while
apparently it's checking the data file.
Time to go back to 2003?

Perhaps you have another application running that is keeping the PST open,
like a sync program.

Try repairing your file a couple of times manually and see what is reported.
Look to see if you have applications that might be preventing Outlook from
closing completely.

Repairing the pst file did the trick!! Thank you!!
I never knew I had SCANPST.exe on my machine. .....Learned something.
Outlook 07 now works as well as 03 did.
