Data file not closed properly.

I get "Data file not closed properly" every time I start OL.
It has to check the file for problems, which can take up to 2min.
It does not matter how OL is closed either.

How do I correct this?

Start with running scanpst.exe against your pst-file.
Also verify that when you close Outlook, the outlook.exe process actually
stops. If not; there's your problem.

Checked out the "How-To"; Email protection of AV is now disabled and have
none of the others running. The Add-Ins were also disabled.
According to the Task Mgr, WINWORD.EXE, agentsvr.exe, and OUTLOOK.EXE have
all close and I might add, in a timely fashion too. In other words, none of
them appeared to hang.
I still get the same outcome.

What file should I scan?.....outlook.pst nor (e-mail address removed), work.
They are invalid file names that do not exist.

Right after I submitted that post I found the correct "outlook.pst" file path.
Scanner found 1 error that needed to be repaired, but repairing it did no
good.
Also found x------x_hotmail.ost file that needed to be checked by the
"Repair Tool". Scanning this one, found over 500 errors....Repaired them but
it didn't help either.

What do you mean by that? Of course they exist; how else can you see your
mail in Outlook then?
Either type the path to them or enable Windows to show hidden files and
folders to browse to them.

It basically means that I wasn't looking in the right place, because I didn't
know where to look. Now with the correct file path "C:\Documents and
Settings\HAP\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook", instead of
just inputing the file name, I found both files that needed to be scanned.
It repaired the "pst" file but after repair of the "ost" file, it still
finds errors, and OLC doesn't connect....In the dropdown the status is:
Connecting.
