Data from a Query not formattable in Excel

We have just moved to a new database with an access
Frontend and SQL 2000 The issue I have and do not seem to
get any support from the database vendor; Is If I copy and
paste the results of my datasheet from a Query to Excel.
Excel will not let me format the data. This is true if I
use office Link on the menu bar(analyze Excel). it seems
as though not all the attributes of the data is copied. Is
this true? and how can I fix it?
