Data gets wiped from Notes field for some users, but not others

We have deployed Project Server to users on two different networks; one
network is for the developers and the other for the Customer. The Server
sits on my network, which is the development network. SP1 is deployed to
everybody but two users. We will begin migrating to SP2 possibly this
weekend.

We are having lots of problems with data getting wiped from text fields,
flags, and baseline columns, but the real puzzling one is that data in the
notes field cannot seem to stick for files that are open on the Customer
network (behind the firewall).

We are hoping that SP2 will fix some of this, but the Customer will likely
slow-roll the deployment of SP2 to their network.

Our only theory on what is causing the data wipes is that all the packets
are not making it through the firewall seperating the Customer and developer
networks. Thoughts? This is very embarressing... we had a Customer demo
today and my entire Notes field was empty when I opened my file on the
Customer Network.
