Data in Project professional not same as the one in PWA

Roy

When I check the team members' tasks assignments and their progress
report, I found the data in PWA was not the same as the one in Project
Professional 2003. And neither is completely right.
I just wonder why?

Thanks ~!

Roy:

You need to be more specific. Which data? How much off? Actual work, for
instance, can change slightly between PWA and Project depending on how
you've setup your tasks in Project. There are other legitimate reasons for
data differences, but to discuss this subject in blanket terms is
unproductive.

Hi, Gary:

Thanks for your reminding : ) I'll try to detail it.

For example, when I check the resources tasks progress between 9, Oct.
to 13, Oct. In PWA's Review Resource Allocation, the resource's Work
Hours and Actual Work Hours are all zero; But in Project Professional
2003, both of them are all eight hours, the right number.

Could this information be any help?

Thanks!

Roy,

You're getting closer, however there is no such features as "PWA's Review
Resource Allocation." So for the sake of argument, let's assume you're
Talking about "View Resource Availability." If this is the case, and you're
not seeing data in this view, we'd assume that it's because your nightly
update of resource availability isn't running. This is setup through Admin >
Manage Enterprise Features.

I believe you mean 'View Resource Assignments' in the PWA Resource Center.
We've had similar issues in the past which have largely been resolved by one
of the following steps
1. Upgrade/reinstall the MDAC 2.8x (latest version)
2. Remove/reinstall the PWA active x controls
3. Install the latest Project Server hot fix (includes updated active x
controls)

The last one will require the install of the active x controls on all client
workstations. Each user will be presented with the EULA screen when the first
connected to the upgraded server. If they're local admin they can download
and install the active x controls. I not, you'll need to do a desktop upgrade
before you upgrade the server.

William:

If that's the view he's referring to, then it could also be a known issue
fixed in SP2a.

Hi, William:

Several days later, someone told me to patch Project Server with sp2a
in order to resolve this problem. But after doing that, things still
the same.

According to your suggestions, I followed the other two steps but not
with the strict order. As you know, I've done the third step ealier on.
I was sorry to find that the problem did exist.

Must I do that with the strict order?
