Data merge between excel and word skips records

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

I created a form letter on word and a worksheet on excel containing names and account balance information. When I merged to print, it looked fine, but I realized that several records had been skipped. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to why certain records were skipped while others merged perfectly.
HELP!
