data merge mac Word X network

I have a small network with master forms and databases for Data Meger
on one computer. Everything works fine on that computer. Problem is
when doing it across the network one machine has problem. When I open
the data merge form I get a message that Word cannopt find the
database. I then navigate to the database and tell it to open that but
I still get a message that t can't find the database. Oddly enough I
do have a coule of documents that do work and all work from other
machines. On the offending machine if I create a new merge document and
database but try to save it across the network it will not let me. The
machine has been thoroughly checked out and is OK. I tried removing
all of the prefs and relaunching, eve tried test drive of Word 2004.
All to no avail. Anyone got any bright ideas besides buying a new
computer?

Hi Mark:

I have an "idea" but it's a long way from being "bright"...

Are the logged-in user-IDs the same on all machines?

It "sounds" as though the faulty machine is not authenticating properly so
the database is invisible to it. I would check all the network stuff
carefully.

Cheers
