Data missing when Importing Excel spreadsheets

I am importing excel spreadsheets into Visio 2003 but some of the data
appears as stars rather than the correct data. I have rechecked the original
spreadsheets and the full field length is being shown within visio but the
data is lost when Importing. Is there a fix for this?
