all of sudden 80 percent or more of my folders/pages give me
this section was not cached and is not accessible offline

what is this ?

my files are backup up daily if not more than once a day ... everything
else on my pc, including internet works perfectly ....

and all of a sudden onenote goes bonkers

what is the solution?

ps - the help for this product is the worst I've seen in 20 years of using
MS products

With OneNote closed try renaming or deleting the OneNote cache file.
Usually it's in C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0 and has the file extension
of .onecache.

Then reopen OneNote. You may need to File | Open your notebook again from
wherever you have that stored on your hard drive.

Ben,

Many thanks your reply. Under c:....\onenote\12.0 I only found
preferences.dat and toolbar.dat. I did a search of all h/d's with "show
hidden files" triggered and could not find a file with the .onecache
extension!?

I also, have onenote on my laptop (have a couple disabilites that more often
than I prefer, require me to work in a prone position) - I also could not
find the .onecache file. BUT ONENOTE WORKS FINE.

Strange continues - I was getting ready to reply to you about what next
(uninstalling/reinstalling or...) and decided to another *.onecache search --
got same result - no file. But I opened Onenote and voila - I could see all
my data again! But with one exception, all the pages had no title - I've had
to open each page in order to have the right hand tab show the title?

Our company's late tuesday and wednesday, network updates, keylogger scans
or what ever else they do often cause strange things to happen - all your
menu bars are changed, IE has been reconfigured and once the worst a
powerpoint I had worked on for almost a full week, disappeared, never to be
seen again.

any idea on what is happening here?
