Evidently, I have commited the cardinal sin: I have,
foolishly, worked directly from removable drives, as a
result of which I have wound up with a bunch of corrupted
files. In one case, I got a few powerpoint files located
on a pen drive. I can open them, but when I try to make
any changes, they shut down automatically. This is not
such a problem, as i am able to copy the text to other
files. In the other case, I got two zip disks that won't
even open in explorer.
I do not want to use a data recovery service. But if
there's a self-recovery method or software, I'd like to
give it a shot. I undertsand this may mean permanent
loss of these data, but that's pretty much the case now
anyway, as sending away my removable media is not an
option. Any suggestions?
Another question is, is there anyway to own some kind of
removable media that won't have this problem? Such as a
real hard-disk that can actually be detached from the PC,
stored some place, and attached back - just like
removable disks?
Thanks a bunch - and yes, I know better now: No working
directly on the removable media anymore!!!
