Data Restoration

I recently had my hard disk crash and had to replace groove. I had a copy of
the groove data and restored it on my computer. When I re-intalled groove I
chose the custom option and pointed it to my old data but it produces an
error when I run the application. I only had my groove data on the one
computer. Does anyone know how I can restore my old groove data and have the
application recognize it? Thanks!

Mike,

Do you know what data was contained in your back up? It sounds like you may
be missing some data directories. Which version of Groove are you using?

Hi,

I was using version 3.1. The names of the files are long:
cp8s9vcbjqyhk248yqdcm3nx7h4g6ajadfeff72 and
rkamba25kp6z3xrqqsh6zpnsnz48a7nzs57mevi

These were not archive or backup files but actual copies of the live data
files within the accounts directory. When I point groove to these files I
get an error.

Thanks!

Mike,

Just to confirm, are these files or folders? It sounds like you might be
missing two more sets of folders from your back up -
...../Groove/system/temporary and .../Groove/system/permanent (location will
be a hidden folder in c:/documents and settings/ directory - in addition to
the two Groove/accounts/ folders I think you found.

If you can find all 3 sets of folders, you will want to just perform the
Groove 3.1 installation using standard folder locations and just do not
launch Groove.

Then, search for the folder .. /Groove/Accounts - there will be at least 1
folder in Accounts, remove that folder and replace it with your two folders
cp8s9vcbjqyhk248yqdcm3nx7h4g6ajadfeff72 and
rkamba25kp6z3xrqqsh6zpnsnz48a7nzs57mevi. You will then need to replace the
contents of ../Groove Networks/Groove/system/permanent and ../Groove
Networks/Groove/system/temporary with the contents from your back ups.

If you don't have all three sets, then unfortunately we cannot restore your
account.

Let me know what you find...
