Using WSS, FP03, and the standard MSWDE install of SQL provided by WSS on a
local machine for testing purposes:
Here's the thing, I also have SQL Server 2000 installed on this same
machine, added after the WSS install and now I would like to use the
Northwind DB in that application and pull various dataviews from it into the
WSS environment.
Using FP03, I know I can pull up a data view, but when I attempt to connect
to the SQL 2000 DB, I come up with the "data retrieval service encountered
and errror"
Several problems may be causing this, I've read the MS article on this
specific error and I cannot for the life of me pinpoint the problem. See
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;831092)
The data retrieval settings in WSS central admin are set to accept OLEDB,
which I'm not sure how to use
I am not using a custom connection string, is this required? I'm on a local
machine, so there's no proxy issues. But, perhaps for the OLEDB connection
to work?
I'm stumped!
