Data Source Catalog - XML Web Services

I am trying to create a connection to an XML web service being provided by an
ASA 9.02 database. The service is working - when I send a URL request to it
- it returns XML. In FrontPage - Insert Dataviews - Data Source Catalog -
XML Web Services - add to catalog, I entered in the service description
location the following.
http://hostname:port/database name/servicename. When I click on the connect
button - it prompts me for the userid and password (option invoked by ASA)
and then returns the following error - " ..service description.. did not
return a valid description of an XML Web Service. Please check address and
try again". I can't find any info on this error message anywhere. I was
guessing that since it prompted for userid and password, that it had made
some sort of connection with the service.
