Hello,

I've got a mailmerge document getting data from Excel (with Microsof
Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider (Ufff, the longes
name on the list ;) )) in Office 2010.

Now, I had to move the Excel file with data and I'm trying to updat
data link accordingly. Every time I Open the word file I get the erro
message that data file could not be found, then I'm presented a dialo
that allows to change. I provide the correct path, confirm and th
mailmerge works. But the new path is not saved. Next time again I ge
the error message and have to correct the path.

How do I change the path to data source permanently

Hi Ryszard Mikke,

When you open the document and get the SQL prompt, answer 'No'. That will kill the existing mailmerge header. Then go through the normal steps for setting up the document for a mailmerge, pointing it to the new source.

OK, the problem is solved, and it is rather a problem with MS Offic
help system.

All one has to do is... create data source again. Provided that colum
names haven't changed, tha mailmerge will work just fine. All I had t
do is define sort order again, but this is specific to the document
use. Usually there will be no need even for that.

So, main problem is, the topic is not covered anywhere, or at leas
anywhere I can google or bing..
