Data Source Location

My company has been using mail merge for three years now
using a text file generated by our third party program as
the data source. We upgraded a computer recently and when
the file was run on the new pc, word came back with a
message saying that it could not find the data source.
Using the browse option within the error box, I found the
file, highlighted it and clicked "ok", at which point Word
came back telling me that it STILL could not locate the
file. After some experimentation, I found that if the data
file was located on the local machine, Word has no
problem, but if the data file is on a mapped drive, Word
can not seem to find it even if you tell it EXACTLY where
it is. Has anyone else had this problem and know of a
solution for it?
