Data validation conflict with list

On this one column, I cannot get the ribbon to show up
(to select from). I have use Data, Validation, Liste,
Name of range. It works everywhere except on this
column. However I have the automatic list to propose
entries where you start typing letters.

Question would the automatic list feature of Mac, prevent
the validation function? How could this validation not
work, virus and corruption discarded?

Seems to work fine for me. Does the name of your list enclose the cell you
are trying to add validation to?
