Data Validation - List - with "Add Items..."

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to do Data Validation as List, and allow the user to "Add
Items.." to the list if they need to?

I found this feature is available in other program, but not excel?

Is there a workaround?

Thank you,

Hi Neon

In Excel 2003 go to Data>Validation>Error Alert and uncheck 'Show error
alert after invalid data is entered'. This should allow users to enter
anything they want as well as choosing from the list.

Hi PJ,

Thanks for the response.
What I essentially want is to allow the user to enter ANYTHING they want
without the boundary of the List. The list is just there to GUIDE the user
for a start. They may follow the list if it's APPLICABLE, but if there's
something the list doesn't have, then the USERs are free to add more to it.

I'm not talking about the Error Message. Sorry that I didn't make this
clear in the first place.

Thanks,

Hi Neon

In fact turning off the Error Alert message lets you do exactly what you
describe. Give it a try!
