On one of my pages, I have a DVWP showing list contents from the same subweb
as the page. I can't recall if it was inserted from scratch or converted from
a list web part that was dragged on the page and "convert to XSLT view"
What I'm trying to do is make one of the fields formatted as a link to the
display or edit form. I've done this in the past by right-clicking the
desired field in design view, selecting Format Item As and then selecting
Hyperlink to and then selecting Edit Form, Display form, etc.
In this case, however, doing so does nothing. For example, I click on
'entry' which is one of the fields. In split view, it highlights the code
that displays the field. I right-click, do my thing and it just comes back
with no changes in the code or design panes.
Is there something about the dataview web part specifically that doesn't
allow me to do this formatting? Or am I supposed to use an ID field instead?
I don't mind adding an Edit button or making a field hover-clickable - I
just want to be able to edit the item by clicking on it in this view.
