Database being used by another user??

[What A Ride]

I have a split database on a network, it has been split, Front End and
Backend. I have the Backend on the server and each of 18 computers have the
frontend. For some reason I have been getting this error as noted on Subject
line,,Any suggestions as to why, this was working a month ago.... Thanks

sometimes you can get a file lock on the server. 1.
check for a .ldb file where the database resides and if
there is one (and noone is in the db) delete the file.
You may need to enable viewing of system and hidden files
to see this file. 2.If you are on Windows 2000, then
right click my computer and select manage. expand shares
and files and select open files. find the lock, if it is
there and delete it. On windows NT4, you want to open
server manager, select the server, then if I remember
correctly, there should be a shares button, select this
and then scroll down the list to find the entry, delete it

Hi Bill

I owe you an apology.

After much searching, I can not find the multipost.

I often answer questions every day. Sometimes I'll read a question, decide
to answer (or not answer), eventually move on to some other newsgroup, then
see the same question posted again (seperately - not as a crosspost). When
that happens, I usually drop my little MULTIPOST rant, because multi-posting
really is a ^%$# in the %$#@ for all concerned.

In this case I have obviously mis-remembered something that I read in
another newsgroup.
