Database Connection String for Teradata

G

Girish

Hi,

We are using Teradata as our database, and I would like to be able to
connect to this database from Sharepoint. I am having issues creating a
database connection to the Teradata Database. I get the following error:

"Server Error: An error occurred when retrieving a list of Databases from
Teradata: The server for the data source returned a non-specific error when
trying to execute your query...."

I have tested the connection by creating a test.udl file on the server and
the connection is successful. But when I use the same connection string when
configuring the custom connection string, it fails.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Girish

Ah, but you can only create data views on a SharePoint Portal Site from
within FrontPage 2003. I have seen a similar post in the FrontPage newsgroup
(see thread "OLE DB connection string in SharePoint for Sybase ASA" on
1/13/2005), and am having a similar problem.

Well, when I installed the Teradata OLEDB driver on the server where
SharePoint Portal Server is installed, I now get a different message when I
try to add a database connection to the Database Connections catalog in
FrontPage 2003. The message that I now get is

"Server Error: An error occurred while retrieving the list of Databases from
Teradata. The Web server cannot connect to the specified data source because
the query may contain errors, the data source may be unavailable or
configured improperly, or your Web site is behind a proxy server or firewall.

If your Web site is behind a proxy server or firewall, verify that your
server administrator has configured the Data Retrieval Services HTTP proxy
server setting for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services."

Again, I created a test.udl file on the server, and when I tested the
connection, it worked fine.

Any ideas why this error message occurs?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Girish
