Database Copied to a Thumbdrive

I recently copied a secure database (Access 2000) to a thumbdrive then to
another pc.

I get this error message when I try to open it:

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'C:My
Documents\CSFB\CSFdbcommon.mdb' object. Have your system administrator ..."

I read Rick B's thread about workgroup files, but I don't get it. (I'm not
expert, at the modestly understands level.)

I'm guessing that I have to do something other than copy and paste to
transfer the file.

Contratulations! The fact that you cannot open it means you secured it
properly (often not the case).

You need to copy the MDW file used to secure it as well and then (on the new
PC) you either need to join that MDW file (make it your default) using the
Workgroup Administrator Utility or else build a shortcut that specifies the
MDW file as a command line argument. The target would look like...

"path to MSAccess.exe" /wrkgrp "path to MDW" "Path to MDB"

The shortcut method is preferred so that the user can open non-secured files
without having to login.
