Database Corrputed?

T

Terry Roberts

I've got a MS Access 2000 database application which we've
been running here at work for quite some time. Yesterday,
we were no longer able to access the MDB - it reports
that "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the
object 'Databases'. Make sure the object exists and that
you spell its name and the path name correctly." The
object does exist, and its path name is spelled correctly.
I have tried doing a compact & repair, copying & renaming
the source file, and opening it in design mode (holding
Shift while opening), but nothing works. Does anyone have
any suggestions on what might be causing this problem, and
how I can remedy it?

TIA,

Terry

I'd love to, but they require a subscription (minimum of
$9.95) and a sign-up to view the information.

Tony,

I actually had already visited your site - it was where I
learned about the JETCOMP utility. I tried all of the
tactics you suggested, but none of them worked. We do have
the file backed up, and it's being retrieved from our off-
site facility. Still puzzled about why I can't get this
damaged file open though...

There's always some files which can't be recovered even by Peter
Miller and PK Solutions. For example if you open an MDB in Word it
will likely be irretrievably scrambled.
