Database Daemon Virus Fix??

B

Beavis & Butthead

Does anyone know how to get rid of this Database Daemon virus that
Microsoft has created?

Entourage is still totally useless until they get smart enough tin
integrate with the Mac OS X Address Book.

I keep removing it from the startup items, but any time I use word, or
any other MS app, it adds itself back to the startup like a virus.

I cannot get rid of it.

I am so sick of it that I may start to stick with AppleWorks until they
get rid of their proprietary database and start integrating with
Address Book and iCal.

For now, if I do want to use Word or Excel occasionally, how can I keep
it from adding back to the startup items?

Are there files I can delete or edit to fix it?

Does anyone know if there is a "keep it down" type of app?
I have seek "Keep it up" that watches for an app to quit, and keeps
re-launching it, but what about the opposite effect?

There's a new idea for any shareware of freeware authors out there....

Your belligerent and insulting attitude does not really predispose me to
answer, but on this occasion I will do.

The Database Daemon is not a virus, but a very necessary part of the office
suite, It is the only way that your emails, contacts, tasks and calendar
events can be accessed, since this is the component that interacts with the
database. It also has an additional function in that it monitors the
database continuously in order to fire off any alerts or alarms set up for
calendar events etc.

The database will automatically start up when you fire up Entourage, word or
Excel, since all of these apps use the database. If you want event alerts
when these apps are not running, the database daemon needs to be active, so
if you have alerts turned on (in entourage) the database daemon is added to
the startup items list. To prevent it from appearing here, simply turn off
'Office Notifications' in Entourage.

Finally, on the topic of 'Address Book' synchronisation, that topic arises
here so frequently and is discussed at some length. I suggest you look
through the archives to find out why many people think this is such a bad
(or impractical) idea.
