database daemon wont go away!

So, what does it take to get rid of the database daemon in Office 2004?
I have turned off notifications, and deleted the startup item, but
every time I start *any* office application, the daemon is restarted
_and_ it reappears in the startup items. Isnt the best practice to
*ask* the user, rather than just going ahead and making these changes?
Very frustrating.

The DB Daemon is a required support app for Word & Excel as well as
Entourage.

Why do you believe you need to get rid of it?

If you have turned off notifications, the daemon will still run when you
start any office app, but should be removed from the startup items and
should quit when all other office apps are quit.

After turning off notifications, you may have to log out & back in again to
make these changes stick.
