database didn't build the filter

MS Access 2000 Windows Vista
I use the filter by form
Enter a data in a list combo
push the search button
I receive the message
database didn't build the filter There is an error in the curent filter . Do
you want to close the filter anayway.

The appication has worked for many years without problem
Plus the same application works very well on other PC's and the filter works
perfectly
I have already cleaned the fields, compressed accesss/ de/re-instlled
access,

Nothinh works

I have to refine my post:
this precise database causes the problem on all computers
Other databases on the same computer behave normally
In other words the 'database didn't build the filter' problem apears only on
this precise database
