God Help You. I have had this problem - some times it
fixes itself once the schedule is re-published. However in
my case i lost an entire schedule due to the back end
losing its reference ID keys, as a result no new tasks
were published and it would not update any new tasks to
the timesheet database. I spent t wo months searching the
net and other user groups to no avail and a logged call,
agreed to pay for, with microsoft just evaporated after
the first intitial contact. I was losing so much data I
bit the bullet and ended up having to copy the schedule to
a new file, manually duplicate every timesheet entry in it
so that it would at least match the pay system backend.
Blow away the original schedule and do some tricky
sharepoint address changes to re-connect the issues and
risks etc.
Their is meant to be a hot-fix for it but it did not work
on my particular problem.
Good luck
Peter

CP:

The error indicates duplicate assignment records in the database. If you can
determine which project has the problem, you can fix it by saving the
project out to a file, deleting it from the server, import it back in and
republish. The exact process for this varies depending on your
configuration. If you use manage time periods, for instance, you need to
turn these off while you do this.

The cause is often associated with the use of the Assign myself to a task
tool. There are a number of known vulnerabilities where assignment
duplicates can be created. A hotfix is due out shortly, I'm not certain of
its current status. You should apply Service Pack 1 in the mean time,
because the hotfix is a post-service-pack patch.
