Database Error Installing with SQL Server SP4

I have been trying to install by creating a new database on a server
running SQL Server 2000 SP4. When I specify the server name and the
SQL username and password, I get an error informing me that I must use
a SQL Server with SP3 or greater. Apparently, Project Server thinks
this server is below SP3. Running a query on the SQL Server in
question and selecting @@VERSION returns a version string that includes
SP4.

Has anyone seen this behavior before. It's possible SP4 was applied
improperly, but I don't think so. The SQL Server is behaving fine.

Not a help but some reinforcement for the feeling that there are problems.

I'm fighting my way through the same process.

I've had a SP3 pilot working for ages and wanted to create a new site and
port over the existing DBs. However the customer wanted SQL SP4, so I
started with that. Could not get Project Server to successfully install.
Went back to SP3 and installed then applied SP4 and site still worked.

In that new environment EDITSITE successfully created a new project Server
Site based on a restored copy of my pilot DB.

However, I'm having trouble trying to get a Sharepoint site working to
connect to it. Looks like the WSSWIZ won't create a public documents site.

I'm about to blow the whole thing back to SP3 and start again.

I did that and it worked. I used editsite and wssmigr.exe and got the new
site working.

I think I need to do SP2 (for the 0x80004005 problem) but I'm leaving it on
SQL SP3 until it's stabilised.
