Database file changes to an app file when exporting

I have a business software where I can export client
information and reports to another computer. When I
perform the Export option, it saves the file as a
database file with the yellow key icon. I then move that
to a JumpDrive to bring it over to another computer. When
I go to Import into my software, however, the file on the
JumpDrove has changed to an Access Application file
(purpole key icon). What causes this and what can I do to
make it the original databse file it started out to be?
Also, as the new "Application" file, it still has
the .mdb extension on it, but it isn't the information
that I exported to begin with. Please advise

I'm thinking it is a version problem. Access 97 had a yellow key as the
icon. Access 2000 has a purple icon. If the yellow key file does not show
an extention, that's just because Explorer is set to hide those. It likely
has the .MDB extention, you just can't see it. (In Explorer, go to Tools
Folder Options>View Tab. Look for a check box that says "Hide Extensions
from known file types" and uncheck it.)

Best bet is that you have Access 97 on the exporting machine and Access 2000
on the importing machine.
