Database in Office VX

B

Ben

I use MS Office X for typing Word documents.

I have not used Entourage. I need a database type facility to which I
can store various personal information on clients (medications,
previous appointment, prescriptions, etc) as well as maintain a
database of all my Herbal remedies.

Initially I was going to use Appleworks for this, but it seems a shame
not to be able to use MS Office as it integrates so well with my Adobe
software.

I'm not looking for a walk through just a point in the right
direction. Can I use Entourage for these 2 things or a combination of
Entourage and Word or Excel (relatively simple) ?

Thanks :)

I also believe that if you already have a database application storing
all these informations, you can probably export to a tabulated text file
and use this in Word through the Data Merge function.

So I suppose that means yes? LOL

Ok I am assuming I just insert the information concerning each
patient's details of prescriptions, meds, allergies etc in the
comments field of their individual Entourage address card?

How long will be able to keep storing that information per patient? I
mean is there a limit to what I can put there?

Currently there is a 4 GB limit to the size of the database file. Assuming
you are using the latest updates.

I recommend excel, as it merges well with Word when you need it for reports
or correspondence. Other databases and excel can import your old data to
provide a seamless database. Depends on how comfortable you are at
designing spreadsheets, data merges, etc. I learned excel & word merging
through trial and error without reading much help info after figuring out
how to use the data tool window. MS changed all the methods and formulas
since my days using "Multiplan" and lotus 20 years ago.
