Database link from Excel to Word.

I know a different way of doing this but the book wants me to do it a
different way.
Using [insert] I need to insert an Excel file into [Word] as a table. After
this I need to linked this date in the table to link into the original Excel
worksheet.

My method would be using both workbooks is;
Open both workbooks, copy the data from the Excel, using [Edit] paste
special, paste link, Microsoft excel, OK

This works great except; I am asked to do this process by way of [Word] only.

You could try Insert | File: Insert as Link (though I think this probably
won't work with non-Word files) or Insert | Object | Create from File: Link
to file. Be aware that an inserted OLE object will greatly increase file
size.
