Database minimizes when document opens from it

I have a database form which allows users to click on a hyperlink and open a
docuemnt, Word, Excel, .pdf, etc. However, after the document is closed,
the database has been minimized to the taksbar, which confuses the users,
some of whom try to open the database again.

Is there a way to leave the database open behind the document window so that
when it closes the database is still there on the screen?

The same thing seems to happen in Access 97 and 2000.
