database recovery

I have a Access database i was using with a web site. It
appears to be corrupted. Access crashses after I load the
file and attempt to do anything with it.

I found utilities that can read it but they cost 400
dollars. Anyone have a better solution?

First, of course, you should have made a copy... if you didn't, do so now. A
number of the things that you might try could leave the DB in worse shape if
they don't salvage it.

Have you downloaded and tried "JetComp" from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads? Have you tried opening in a later
version of Access? Have you looked at the info and links on corruption at
MVP Tony Toews' site, http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm? If all else
fails, contact Peter Miller at http://www.pksolutions.com -- he has an
excellent reputation for recovering data and will give you a free estimate.
