database recovery

We have an Access 2000 database that was converted in July
from Access 97. Since that time the database has come
down about six times, with same problem each time. We
have been unable to repair using the 'compact and
repair'. The database allows you to open it and add
records. When you try to update, it gives 'there was an
error executing the command'. The table can be opened in
design view, but when you try to open it to view the
records, it gives 'invalid argument' error, then click ok
and get error 'databasename can't open the table in
Datasheet view'.

Any ideas on how to retrieve the records in this table?

Or any clue as to why this could be happening?
Thank you.

Hi Kathy

Try creating a new database and importing all the objects into it - this has
worked for me much more effectively than compact and repair or using
conversion route. Good luck

Kathy,
I would start by importing all of the objects from the database into a new
file.

For more information on corruption including possible causes,
determining the offending PC, retrieving your data, links, official MS
KB articles and a list of vendors who state they can fix corruption
