Recently, a number of computers using Windows 98 with an
Access 97 database were upgraded to Windows 2000 with
Access 97.
On some of the upgraded computers, there was no
change...on others however the database speed dropped
dramatically.
Before the update, it was taking 2-3 seconds for the
database to perform searches for records on the main form
for the database. After the upgrade, it is taking 25-30
seconds for the same search. So far, there has been some
speculation that it has to do with some PC's being on
Token ring adapters and some being ethernet.
Does anyone know of any other reasons why upgrading to
Windows 2000 would significantly impact the performance of
an access database, and does anyone have any ideas of what
I can do to fix the problem?
Thank you.
