Date Change

I have entered a date e.g. 9/10/03, and Excel changes it to 37874. I have
tried to format the cell (Format/Format Cells/Number/Date/3/14/98), but it
continues to convert it to 37874. Any suggestions on what to do to correct
this?

Otto,
I tried but there is no difference. I really don't get it. Got any
idea what else could be controlling the formatting?

Does it show the date ok in the formula bar?

If yes, maybe you have formulas showing.

You may have Formulas set to visible. To change this setting,

1. Choose Tools>Options
2. Select the View tab
3. Under Window options, remove the check mark from Formulas
4. Click OK

The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl + ` (accent grave, left of the 1 key)
