Date changes in Exel

My boss handed me this one and I am at a loss. I am new to Macs also
so any words of advice are more then welcome!

In a clients exel sheet we have a date field, when we open it the
dates are being changed to 2 years later. If I open with Maclink it
shows the correct dates.
Any ideas?

Are you sure it isn't 4 years and 1 day?

XL has two date systems - the WinXL default 1900 system, and the MacXL
default 1904 system. The date system is workbook specific, but it's set
by the first workbook opened in an XL session (including the Personal
Macro Workbook).

Try changing the date system to 1900 by unchecking the
Preferences/Calculation/1904 date system checkbox.

That did the trick! Thanks so much, no more data migration headaches
on this subject.
