Date Changes on Documnet Automatically

When I retrieve a documnet dated for instance 4/2/09, when it shows in the
window (Word) it shows the current date.
How do I get the date to not change on the document?

Press Alt+F9. Change the DATE part of the field to CREATEDATE. Press F9 to
update. Press Alt+F9 again to hide field codes.

Hi,

Changing a DATE field to a CREATEDATE field is a good solution for documents
that are created and completed on the same date. However, when a document is
modified on a subsequent date, a user may want to freeze the date on the date
when the document was last modified. This can be done by locking the contents
of the DATE field. To lock a DATE field (or any other field) so that it will
not be updated again, place your cursor within the field and press CTRL+3 or
CTRL+F11. To unlock a field so that it can be updated, place your cursor
within the field and press CTRL+4 or CTRL+SHIFT+F11.

Or you could unlink the field (Ctrl+Shift+F9) when editing is completed
(which makes even more sense than locking it).

Of course, neither locking nor unlinking will help if you open a document
today that was completed (say) months ago. In such a case, I belive changing
to a CREATEDATE field is the best you can accomplish.

If it's a letter that was created, revised a number of times, and ultimately
printed out to be mailed, the PRINTDATE would recover that date (but only if
the document was resaved after printing), and you could then unlink that.
