Date for new tasks does not start on project start date

Many times when I add new tasks in an existing project, the new tasks do not
start on the project start date. There is no constraint on the tasks.

Does anyone know what is the problem? How can I fix it?

Thanks,

Casey

Hi Casey,

If/when you insert the new task, is it automatically
linking to the task above? That may be shut of in
Tools-->Options Schedule tab.
Uncheck "Autolink inserted or moved tasks"
If checked, autolink will automatically link a task if
the new task is inserted between two tasks linked in a F
to S relationship. It will not autolink with any of the
other link relationships, nor will it link in a F to S if
lead or lag has been applied.
While on the Schedule tab, check the option for "New
tasks start on:" It may be set to "Start on current date"
rather than "Start on Project Start date" -
although "Start on current date" usually automatically
applies a Start No Earlier than constraint.

Hope this helps,
Julie
