Date Format Problem

My formula reads:
CONCATENATE(" ",O1," ","INQUIRY FOR ORDER NUMBER 048-",O2)

Cell O1 is formatted as >Date>03/14/01

The CONCATENATE converts the date from cell O1 into a 5 digit number. I need
the cell to remain in the original format. Is there a fomula I need to nest
in the CONCATENATE that will keep the cell formatted how I intended.
