Date format to Julian Date??

Hi, Can someone help me with how to change a date (mm:dd:yyyy) into its
julian date?

Create a cell with 12/31/07- todays date=julian date

example below 12/31/06 - 10/27/07 =300 next cell beside it is =year reads
300 07
Production Date: Saturday 27-Oct-07 Code Date: BH 300 2007 12/31/2006
