date format

How do I change the date format from US to UK in Office 2000, I am using
Windows ME. I have changed everything else on the computer to UK format, but
excel defaults to US date format

I would have guessed that xl2k uses the windows setting for dates.

In win98, I can get to that setting via:

Windows start button|settings control panel|regional settings applet

What do you have for you date format on the Date Tab?
